The 2nd Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held on Sunday 21 November 2021. A total of 33 fish 24 inches or greater in length were checked in by 17 anglers. The largest fish caught measured 30.75 inches.  Anglers also reported catching good numbers of fish measuring under 24 inches.

2021 to 2022 OCBS Steelhead Tournament Series
Leg #3 - December 12, 2021 Results

The 3rd Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held Sunday 12 December 2021.  A brisk sunny day with air temperatures in the mid 40’s.

The legacy streams were blown out due to a significant rain event the day prior to tournament day. The majority of anglers elected not to fish due to the unfavorable stream conditions.  Those that fished concentrated their efforts on the feeder streams flowing into the main rivers systems.  Anglers found good numbers of fish concentrated in these feeder streams.

A total of 22 fish twenty-four inches or greater were checked in by 11 anglers.

Congratulations to Marty Calkins who placed first with two 29” fish totaling 58.00 inches in length.

2021 to 2022 OCBS Steelhead Tournament Series
Leg #4 - March 13, 2022 Results

The 4th Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held Sunday 13 March 2022.  It was a brisk snowy day with morning air temperatures in the teens and midday highs in the low 30’s. We had 40 degree water temps earlier in the week that plummeted into the low 30’s on Tournament Day.

The legacy streams had favorable flows, good visibility and held a mix of drop back and fresh fish. Streams were covered with slush until late afternoon. Cold water temperatures slowed fish metabolism causing fish to hold in slower flows and deeper holes.  Anglers who concentrated their efforts in these areas had good results.

Congratulations to Matt Hainzey who placed First with a 32” and 26.25“ fish totaling 58.25 inches in length.

2021 to 2022 OCBS Steelhead Tournament Series
Leg #5 - March 27, 2022 Results

The 5th Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held Sunday 27 March 2022.  A brutal day with snow flurries, 25 F air temperatures and a 17 F wind chill factor.  Most anglers elected not to fish in these conditions or only ventured out for a brief period of time.

The legacy streams were running high and muddy from earlier rain events.   Anglers who ventured out concentrated their efforts on major river feeder streams which held good numbers of fresh and spawning fish.

A total of 20 fish were checked-in by 10 angler who braved the unfavorable fishing conditions.  Anglers reported multiple hookups and steady action.

Congratulations to John Beedlow Jr who placed First with a 30.75” and 27.25” fish totaling 58.00 inches in length.

The End of Series Tournament Awards Ceremony and Raffle will take place at the 21 April 2022 Membership Meeting.  Be sure to save the date
