2020-2021 OCBS Steelhead Season Adjustments due to Covid-19
Due to the uncertainty associated with the resurgence of Covid-19 across the USA this summer and predictions of a second wave in the fall, the OCBS board of directors made a unanimous decision to start the 2020 season with virtual meetings. We believe the decision to temporarily move to virtual meetings is in the best interests of the safety and well-being of OCBS members as well as their families and friends.
OCBS Virtual meetings will be conducted via Google Meets. A link to the meeting and instructions to connect to the meeting with your computer or iPad will be communicated in your monthly newsletter.
We will hold the OCBS steelhead tournament this year with a few changes to help social distancing. All contestants will need to register for the tournament via mail using the registration form provided. Check in will be modified to permit members to call or text their catch to the tournament director.

Jeff Liskay, OCBS Founding Member and Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador

Jeff releasing a beautiful Steelhead caught on the swing.
OCBS founding member, Jeff Liskay, has been a self-admitted steelhead junkie for nearly four decades. From his home base in northern Ohio, Liskay has fished across the entire Great Lakes and is now reaching into Alaska, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and beyond. He is well recognized for both his two-hand casting and fishing skills and is a regular on the Spey fishing gathering circuit as both an observer and a presenter.
Jeff spends the warmer months prowling Great Lakes shoreline areas chasing warm-water species on the fly, but as the weather cools steelhead take over. He is considered one of the top guides on Ohio’s Lake Erie tributaries and is also in high demand as a Spey casting instructor. He is an established speaker and presenter, giving numerous club and show programs each year. Jeff is also a talented fly tier- his creations are generally simple, functional, fish catchers.
THANKS to our OCBS Sponsors!

Jeff is a Patagonia Fly Fishing Ambassador and a Pro Staff member for a number of companies, including Scientific Anglers and Scott Fly Rods. He has been featured in books and magazines, on television, and in podcasts for his angling skills. Liskay owns and operates Silver Fury Guide Service and Schools, where he focuses on the use of two-hand rods and swung flies for migratory fish.
Jeff is a great speaker with over 40 years of steelhead fishing knowledge and steelheading adventures that he wants to share with his fellow OCBS club members and friends at our December 2020 meeting. This is a meeting you do not want to miss.

2020-2021 OCBS Championship Tournament Series
November 22, 2020 Results
The 2nd leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held on Sunday 22 November 2020. A rainy day with temperatures in the low 40’s.
Good numbers of fish were in the river systems, but the streams were running low and clear. Those that toughed out the weather managed to put some quality fish on the board.
A total of 19 fish 24 inches or greater in length were checked in by 10 anglers. Two fish were caught that measured 30.25 inches.
Congratulations to Chris Dietrich 1st place winner of the 2nd Tournament Leg.
The 3rd Tournament leg will be held Sunday 13 December 2020. Be sure to mark your calendar and plan to fish the Leg.
