Leg #5 - March 24, 2024
The 5th Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held Sunday 24 March 2024. It was a sunny day with temperatures in the mid-forties.
The legacy streams were all fishable with good numbers of fresh fish and drop backs.
A total of 43 fish were checked-in by 23 steelheaders. A productive day on Steelhead Alley.
Congratulations to Ken Harper who placed First with a 30.5” and a 29.00” fish totaling 59.50 inches in length.

Leg #4 - March 10, 2024
The 4th Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held Sunday 10, March 2024.
It was a brutal winter day with winter storm warnings and advisories throughout the area. The legacy streams were blown which forced those who ventured out to concentrate their efforts on the feeder streams.
A total of 31 fish were checked-in by 19 diehard steelheaders.
Congratulations to John Rhoades who placed First with two 29.25” fish totaling 58.50 inches in length.
The 5th and Final Tournament Leg will take place on Sunday 24 March 2024. Be sure to save the date.

Leg #3 - December 10, 2023
The 3rd Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held Sunday 10 December 2023. It was a cloudy day with temperatures in the mid-forties. A significant rain event the evening prior to the Tournament blew out the west side streams. The eastern streams did not get heavy rainfall and were running on the low side with moderate flows. Savey angles concentrated their efforts on the eastern streams which held good numbers of steelhead.
A total of 33 fish were checked in by 18 anglers. Forty-eight percent of the fish caught were 27”s or greater in length.
Congratulations to John Beedlow Jr who placed first with a 30.50 and 26.00 inch fish totaling 56.50 inches in length.
The 4th Tournament Leg will be held Sunday 10 March 2024. Save the date and plan to fish the Leg.

Leg #2 - November 19, 2023
The 2nd Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held on Sunday 19 November 2023. A partly cloudy day with temperatures in the mid 40’s. A perfect day to be Steelheading.
The Legacy Streams had peaked due to Friday’s much-needed rain event and were coming into shape throughout the day. What a difference a few days can make. Good numbers of fresh chrome we in the river systems.
Thirty-nine fish were checked in by 23 anglers. The largest fish caught measured 30.50 inches. Anglers reported steady action catching good numbers of fish measuring under 24 inches.
Congratulations to Ken Harper who won the Leg with two fish totaling 59 inches in length

Leg #1 - November 5, 2023 Results
The 1st Leg of the OCBS “Members Only” Steelhead Tournament was held on Sunday 5, November 2023. A partly sunny day with air temperatures in the low-fifties.
The legacy streams were fishable with decent numbers of fish in the lower sections. Stream temps were in the mid to upper forties with good clarity and moderate leaf hatch. The majority of fish were stagging in the harbor areas taking advantage of Lake Erie’s favorable water temperatures and an abundant bait fish.
A total of 37 steelhead were checked in by 21 anglers. The largest fish caught was 28.50 inches.
Congratulations to Casey Smith who won the first Leg 1 with two fish totaling 56.00 inches in length.
The 2nd Tournament Leg will take place on Sunday 19 November; 2023. Be sure to save the date.

This season’s OCBS Steelhead Tournament is dedicated to the memory of David K. Esner, a long-time Ohio Steelheader Member who passed away on May 6, 2018.

Our annual OCBS Steelhead Fishing tournament is for OCBS members only. If not a member, you are welcome to join OCBS in order to register for the tournament.
Members can register for this year’s tournament as follows:
- US Postal Service: Print the below registration form, fill it out and mail with check for payment to OCBS PO Box 29577 Parma, OH 44129.
- Online: Complete online registration form and credit card payment on the right hand section of this page.
- OCBS Meetings: You can register and pay in person at our monthly meetings.
All participants are required to fish with another OCBS member who is in the tournament and is responsible for verifying the length of each fish checked in.
Check in has been modified to permit members to call or text their catch to the Tournament Director.
Entry fee is $20.00 per participant.
